Good evening GSS Community,
we are very sorry to inform you, that we have decided to shutdown our project called GSS at the end of this month, permenantly. We were all of the same opinion, that this project will not be able to survive in this current state, but be an annoying and exhausting problem to deal with instead.
Now there will be some interested people wondering why GSS is going to shutdown. As some of our more experienced users already know, GSS was already shutdown once before, because we could not afford to keep the project alive. This time, however, is different. This time we shutdown GSS because of the less loyal users, because of those users, who exploit our services on a daily basis, so they don't need to pay any money. Of course we know, that a free service has a higher demand, since you don't have to pay for it yourself and do not need to maintain the servers, but our current userbase persists mainly out of multiaccounts, fakeaccounts or accounts which exploited bugs instead of reporting them. Over 50% of our userbase (calcutlated with the number of created accounts) violate most of our rules and react with anger and denial rather than with sympathy, when we confront them. Many of them already know we shutdown our service once, but they are back, creating multiple accounts, so we have to pay twice and thrice as much for their countless servers, although they don't need even close as much. They don't care, because there are no true consequences for them, but there are huge consequences for us, namely the giant amount of userdata and servers we have to manage and the unreasonably high costs we have to pay.
We shutdown our service, not because we cannot afford to pay for these fakers, but because it's simply not worth it. Every day we find at least 10, often 20 accounts, which break multiple rules. As soon as we ban them, we point out they can request to get unbanned, literally all they have to do is to read the FAQ and apply, but instead we get insulted, we get spammed and at some point we get annoyed. If we do not unban them, they just create a new account or "steal" another account they do not own. We see. We ban. We suffer. One would expect to get respect and appreciation for contributing to the community, but all we receive is exploitation, lies and betrayal.
I want to clarify once again: This is permanent! After the 31.08.2018 there is no GSS anymore and there will be no GSS ever again. All data you didn't back up on your local system gets erased for ever. It is funny I'm writing this, although over 50% of our userbase will never read it, and then they wonder why GSS is down, and they will think, that it is going to come back. Pathetic.
Let's end the moaning, shall we? We are at all honesty sorry, not for the respectless users who are exploiting us on a daily basis, but we are sorry for you, you, who is really reading this, who is genuinely enjoying using our service. As you might have noticed, a lot has changed over the past years, but one thing is still the same after all this time, we always made this project for the community, we made this project for you, the true and and honest community. We neither earn any revenue out of this project nor do our server get paid for themselves, the only thing that motivated us to keep working on this project were you guys, although we didn't get to know you, since you never stood out for being negative and sadly not for being positive either.
I want to encourage you all to leave a nice comment for our farewell, tell us how GSS could help you or what you liked on this project or this community, because it would feel so good to hear something nice for a change. The GSS Community discord will stay as well as a majority of our team, so if you'd like to have a chat, feel free to join us.
Although this project is now ultimately over, we will continue working on new projects and someday we might even discover new and better ideas on how we can contribute to the community. We can look forward to that.
If this is the last time you hear from us however, I want to farewell you in the name of our whole team and I want to wish you goodluck on your journey, whereever it might go (bit dramatic, I know).
